HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAMS

Team Playtri Elite has been a designated USA Triathlon High Performance Team program since January, 2013. We have been proud to produce internationally competitive junior elite athletes, top ten youth and junior elite athletes, NCAA/collegiate club triathletes, and most importantly young men and women who are leaders in their sport and community. Primary short-term goals include:

  • Developing strong, healthy athletes with potential for high performance

  • Developing athletes into leaders who demonstrate sportsmanship on and off the race course

  • Making a positive contribution to the USAT Olympic pipeline

The Team Playtri Elite program accepts young men and women beginning in the off-season of their race age 11 year, and continues through high school graduation. We are currently in the process of developing an elite professional development program as well.

Our current program is comprised of two team levels, as well as a distance athlete option:

  • Development Team (Devo Team) - All new team members are required to spend at least one year in our Devo Team program, which requires athletes to commit to one of our daily training environments (DTE's) Monday-Saturday (currently our only DTE is in McKinney, TX, but additional locations are currently under consideration).

  • Team Playtri Elite - This is our top team program, and athletes are required to re-apply for membership each season. Elite Team athletes attend the team DTE, as well as maintaining an active TrainingPeaks account, and committing to weekly athlete and team meetings with the head coach.

  • Distance Athletes - The distance program is for any athletes unable to participate in our DTE, but who demonstrate the skills, fitness and maturity to train at the expected level for our programs. Distance athletes are expected to complete assigned workouts on their own (or as part of a single sport team), maintain an active TrainingPeaks account and have weekly phone or Skype meetings with the head coach.
